Event Summary

Event Overview

The Tanfield Tour Of Yorkshire has been made to showcase some of Yorkshires best sites and roads.

The great thing about our event HQ is it is already pretty remote. There is no dual carriage ways or 20 mile lead outs to get into the North Yorkshire Moors - you start there!

Other than wanting to put on a good day out for people, we set this event up to raise money for charities close to Harry & Charlie. The Yorkshire Air Ambulance, Yorkshire Cancer Research, and the James Cook Spinal Ward. In 2016 Harry & Charlie’s father suffered a life changing bicycle accident which required the services of the Yorkshire Air Ambulance & James Cook Spinal Ward. Harry and his brother Charlie are also both ambassadors for Yorkshire Cancer Research charity, following the passing of their mother in 2019.

We’'ve designed three routes to cater for all levels of cyclists.

On each of the three routes there are feed stations, bike repair stations, and post ride complimentary snacks!

The three routes we have designed are:

Short (orange) - 47km - 950m Total Ascent:

Medium (blue) - 115km - 1800m Total Ascent:

Long (purple) - 146km - 2200m Total Ascent:

The short ride is just that, short, but not boring. We’ve seen other sportives on the calendar and their short route is generally pan flat and on busy roads - not ours. We’ve designed the route to include SOME climbing (you can’t come to Yorkshire without hitting a few hills). We’ve set up a feed station on this route so you can fill your bottles and grab a bite to eat. This ride is suitable for anyone with two wheels and the desire to ride!

The medium route offers a little more elevation to get you going up hill, fast! Definitely not one for the feint hearted. We have tried to condense a decent amount of climbing in this ride in a slightly more condensed ride than our Long route. 2 feed stations on route will ensure you are well hydrated and fuelled the whole way around.

The long route sums up bike riding in Yorkshire - amazing! The terrain is up and down all day long and is sure to challenge you. 3 feed stations will be on the route. This is sure to challenge you, but as Edddy Merx once said, “Dont Buy upgrades, ride up grades!” - We promise you will be well supported and will enjoy this ride!

Whatever route you chose the 2022 Tanfield Tour Of Yorkshire Sportive promises to deliver and is going to help some great local Yorkshire charities.
