Scottish National Olympic Time Trial Championships

Time Trial , Hawick – Sunday, 03 Jul 2022

Event Summary

Event Overview

This is the second year of Hawick Cycling Club hosting the Scottish National Olympic Time Trial Championships for Scottish Cycling.  We will be delighted to see last year's competitors join us again and hope others will take the journey to Hawick in Scottish Borders to take part in an event over a challenging 33 mile course on our quiet, cycling friendly roads.

The Event is held on Hawick CC's Carter Bar TT course. The details of the route are available at Hawick CC Carter Bar TT Course

The HQ is at Teviotdale Leisure Centre on Mansfield Road TD9 8AG which is approximately 1 mile from the start. Teviotdale Leisure Centre

The start is just on the outskirts of Hawick where the A6088 leaves the A698.  The route follows the A6088 to Carter Bar at the Scotland/England Border.  On the way you will have a gradual climb to the Ruber's Law heights and then a rapid descent to Bonchester Bridge. (Caution: This descent ends with a sharp right-hand bend with a reverse camber - Take Care, especially when wet).  You have a short climb out of Bonchester Bridge, then an undulating and gradual climb to Carter Bar.

At Carter Bar you turn left on to the A68. (Caution: This is a give way and you may need to stop for traffic.) This section of the route descends rapidly from the heights at Carter Bar with some sweeping switch-back turns. You continue with a fast, gradual and undulating descent to Jedburgh where you take two left turns and then head up a short, steep climb on the B6358 over the Dunion and back to Hawick by Denholm. (Caution: The descent from the Dunion has two sharp bends through a section of woodland where the tarmac surface is rough.)

The finish is just after a couple of sharp bends and before the 30mph limit as you enter Hawick on the A698.
