Event Summary

Event Overview

This event is a three distance road ride, the longest route will be 120ms , the traditional 100km distance and a shorter 70 km route, all rides will feature some of the iconic Chiltern Hills, the long route will be a tough ride, lots of hills to challenge you and as only a month before Ride London will be an ideal preparation ride. The route takes you through the undulating terrain of the Chiltern Hills via Chesham, Gt Missenden, Stokenchurch, Gt Kingshill and The Chalfonts with some steep climbs thrown in for good measure.

The event will be limited in terms of numbers with a maximum field of 200 riders. the routes will be signposted and GPS files will be available and sent to all entered riders.

This will be a ride to test yourself over the distance, there will be 1 food stop where there will be the chance to fill up a water bottle and grab a gel/energy bar and hopefully (COVID  allowing) we will have tea/Coffee and cake at the HQ for pre and post event carbs and refreshments. For those in need of further sustenance along the route you will find a couple of country pubs, village stores and a coffee shop for any extra fuel.

This event has now been run for the last 12 years with people complementing the event for the friendly atmosphere and well marked challenging route.

Once again we will be starting the event at the Chiltern Sports and Social Club, Maple Lodge , Maple Cross which is easily accessible from the M25 /M40, where there is plenty of car parking, showers, catering and access to a licensed bar.

There will be a memento handed out to all finishers.

Over the years we have made a donation to charity for each rider from our events and over the years the benefactors of these donations have been the South Bucks Riding for the disabled, The Dogs Trust- Harefield and the British Heart Foundation. In 2022 we intend to again donate to the BHF.

Riders will start in groups of 6 to 10 riders and there will be 3 times to aim for in each distance as a challenge for those riding, riders are welcome to start with entered club mates/friends.

Standard times

Long route

Gold 4hrs 20 mins

Silver 4 hrs 45 mins

Bronze 5hrs 15mins

Medium route

Clearly at this stage we are very hopeful that the dreaded COVID will have subsided further and that there will be no cancelation or restrictions placed on the event as a result of the virus, however in the case of restrictions being put into place, we will firstly try and run the event around the legislations of any new restrictions, if not then  riders will be given the option of rescheduling the date of the event or refunds made, subject to an admin fee of £1

Entry fee will be £15 pre entry and £20 on the day,

On line entry will be via the British Cycling website ,

The event is organised by members of the West Drayton Multiple Bike Club, organisers of sportive events and races both on and off road for the last 32 years and current organisers of the popular West Thames series.

We look forward to seeing you.

The GPX routes will be sent out to all pre entered riders on the Thursday before the event once on line entry has closed.

Given the time of the year weather can still be unpredictable and thus this can effect road conditions, please take this into account.

Riders are expected to follow the rules of the road.

Groups of riders will be set out to try and keep riders of a similar ability together and the number of riders starting together will adhere to the current regulations..

Although everyone should ensure that they and their bikes are in condition for such as a ride as this, however there will be a sag wagon which will sweep the course at the end of the ride to assist anyone with terminal mechanical failure.

Please follow the instructions of the marshals when parking.

Please refrain from disposing of rubbish such as gel wrappers whilst riding.

Any riders wishing to move routes after entering can at the well marked split points do so, just please let us know if you do so we can adjust the standard times.
