Event Overview

The Welsh Cycling Half Term Sessions takes place across Wales with specific sessions for riders who have taken part in taster sessions delivered at this and other Velodromes on fixed wheel. The sessions are open to new riders and those already in cycling clubs but are keen to learn more about the sport of TRACK cycling.

 

Sessions are open to Youth Riders aged between 10-14 years old.

 

Riders must be able to already ride and have had previous experience of cycling on a velodrome and a fixed wheel bike through such activities as the taster sessions already taking place at the centre.

About the Event

Info for Riders

This session will be on FIXED WHEEL Track bikes, You can bring your own or one will be provided for the sessions following completion of a bike booking form which will be emailed out to those riders booked on ahead of the session.

Riders with little/no experience are welcome. Please contact to inform us of your riding level when you book. The sessions are aimed to enable entry into the sessions delivered by Newport Live.

If bringing your own bike be prepared to have this checked by the coach for suitability and please be prepared to use a bike from the centre if yours is not allowed to be used. Please note hire bikes are fitted with Look Delta clips or toe clip attachments. The pedals cannot be changed, so please ensure you are either using correct cleats or bring sports trainers for use of the Toe clips.

 

Please bring everything you need with you for the day to be self-sufficient including labelled drinks, snacks, and basic tools (Multitool) and spare inner tubes in case of a puncture during the activity.

 

Riders are required to complete a short self-declaration and parental consent form prior to arrival to aid with the Test and Protect programme.

 

Thank you for booking onto this club cluster session, further details about the session will be emailed to you just after the closing date around 2-3 days ahead of the session.  

 

Please let us know in advance if you require a hired bike. 

The cost of bike hire would be £6.60 which would cover both sessions, payable at reception before the first session, which will also cover the second session.

 

The sessions will take place on the following dates/ times:

  • Monday 25th October - 10.00 until Midday
  • Tuesday 26th October - 10.00 until Midday

Your booking covers both sessions.
