About the Event

Info for Riders

Scottish Cycling's East and Central region riders only. To reduce the risk of transmitting Covid 19 please do not book if you have to travel far. As soon as we can we will run session nation wide.

****EACH SESSION WILL BE CAPPED AT A TOTAL OF 5 HOUSEHOLDS****

As part of the Scottish Cycling team's aim to increase the numbers of young racers and cyclists each region holds regular discipline specific training for riders aged 8+

The aim of these XC sessions is to prepare for the XC season and to prepare riders for the eventual step up to national training groups or advanced recreational riding. As riders get older the sessions shift from very informal "come & try" type sessions up to race specific sessions.

Initially there is no expectation that riders participating in these sessions will take part in races but I do hope some of them go on to take part in the National RACE programme and perhaps compete at the highest level.

Once riders move from #GiveItAGo, club or school sessions to Club Cluster and Regional Race sessions there will be more emphasis placed on matching the demands of the session to the demands of the racing they will likely encounter. Riders (14+) hoping to attend National RACE sessions will have to commit to racing in our national series.

Each XC session will have a technical element and a physical element so riders should be prepared to ride whatever the prevailing weather but should carry enough spare clothing to stay warm in the event of an emergency. If you cannot come with all the items on the kit list for any given week please contact your regional XC coach (Chris Bryant) in advance of the session to see about borrowing some equipment. Unfortunately you must bring your own mountain bike.

Each rider participating will need to fill out an annual consent form and notify the coach of any changes to those details before any training.
