Closed Circuit , Hemel Hempstead – Wednesday, 26 Aug 2020

Event Summary

Event Overview

THE SANTINI BOVINGDON BOMBER CRITERIUM SERIES 2020
HHCC run criterium racing for juniors & seniors at the popular HHCC Bovingdon Bomber Cycle Circuit. The Bomber is a 1km long smooth purpose built racing circuit. It is fast, flat, sweeping and technical and always produces good safe racing and for the reduced mini 2020 season we are continuing our partnership with our sponsors Santini Premium Custon Clothing, Lovelo Cycleworks and Musette Café.

Due to Covid 19 restrictions we are running 4 race categories this year: Men 1/2, Men 3/4, Women 1/2 & Women 3/4 with a maximum of 24 riders in multiple 15 minute races. Men race on a Tuesday and women on a Wednesday. Everyone races on the two Sundays.

COVID-19 SOCIAL DISTANCING
Please don’t mingle and socialise before and after races and try and stay 2 meters apart when not racing. We will make the process of racing as safe and simple as possible but we are all in this together so must all do our bit – there is plenty of parking so spread out and don’t gather in groups. Hand sanitizer will be available in several key locations, please use it. No entry on the night so no cash is exchanged. Prize money will be in sealed envelopes.

TEAMS
No more than 4 riders in a team please.

THE RACES - No hairpin this season, original circuit only.
Scratch Race
Rolling start / 10mins + 5 laps / Bomber Points for top 6 riders = 5/4/3/2/1/1

Points Race
Rolling start / 15 laps / Sprint every 3 laps starting on lap 3 then lap 6, 9 ,12 & 15. A whistle will sound as you enter the sprint lap.
1 point for first over the line on sprint laps then final lap points for top six finishers = 5/4/3/2/1/1

Points & Prizes
BC have stipulated no BC points to be awarded so no changes of category. We will instead race for Bomber Points and fight for the King & Queen of the Bomber title.

Cash prizes for top point scorers in each category: 1st=£20 2nd=£15 3rd=£10 at each of the ten rounds.

The ‘Sam Williamson King & Queen of the Bomber’ Trophy.
There are five rounds available for each category of rider and every point will count towards the season long King and Queen Trophy. The winner will be the male and female rider with the most points at the end of the season irregardless of category. In the event of a points tie the higher number of wins triumphs. If still a tie then a higher number of intermediate sprints will be counted. If still a tie then 2nd places overall will be counted etc.. This is irrespective of category of race.
The winner of the King & Queen will take the title, trophy and £100 cash.

RACE LOGISTICS
Time is tight and it is your responsibility to be ready and lined up on the entry area and ready 5 minutes before race time, the race will start as planned and late riders won’t be allowed to ride.
Joining the circuit
You will be signed in early by a marshal at the circuit entry point and asked to wait until the previous race is well into its wind down lap before you join the circuit.
Rolling Starts
After having joined the circuit and after 1 or 2 sighting laps a pace setter will join the circuit and riders must sit behind the pace setter whilst the riders bunch up behind until it signals with a whistle and pulls off approaching the start line which will mark the start of the race.
Leaving the circuit
At the end of your race you must circle the circuit one more time as a wind down lap and then filter off to the right just after the start/finish line heading towards the car park. Please disperse and be sure to keep 2 meters between you and other riders.

ENTRY FEES
£12.50 in advance only (racing is free to HHCC first claim members). No entry on the day.

RACE NUMBERS
A race number will be assigned to you at your first race and kept for the whole season. Do not forget it on race day as no spares will be available and you won’t be able to race. Best advice is to pin number on before leaving home. Return the number at the end of the season.
