HSBC Go-Ride MTB XC East & Central Programme Overview

As part of the Scottish Cycling team's aim to increase the numbers of young racers and cyclists each region holds regular discipline specific training for riders aged 8 and above.

The aim of these XC sessions is to prepare for the XC season or races within that season and to prepare riders for the eventual step up to national training groups & advanced recreational riding. The focus for all sessions is skill and technique.

Once riders move from #GiveItAGo (age 8+), club or school sessions they can attend Club Cluster and Regional RACE (ages 12+) sessions.

RACE stands for Regional Academy of Cycling Education. The further up the pathway the more emphasis may be placed on matching the demands of the session to the demands of the racing they will likely encounter.

The next step up: Riders hoping to attend  RACE National sessions will have to commit to racing in our national and UK series. RACE National  is by invite only and selection is made late autumn.

All level sessions will have moments of rest so riders should be prepared to ride and stop in the prevailing weather & should carry enough spare clothing to stay warm in the event of an emergency. If you cannot come with all the items on the kit list for please contact your regional XC coach in advance of the session You must bring your own mountain bike suitable for natural XC trails and a helemt that is in good condition.

Each rider participating will need to fill out an annual consent form and notify the coach of any changes to those details before any training.
