Event Summary

Event Overview

This second Ivor Ride remembers our late great friend Ivor Reid, prolific track champion, inspirational coach and wonderful guy. We lost Ivor, well before his time, on the 18th June 2018. The void left in our sport has been very difficult to fill. Hivelo's bid to realise an indoor velodrome in the Highlands was a project close to Ivor's heart and money raised by this event will go to the charity.

We are inviting donations, which are of course, entirely voluntary. However we hope you will give generously. We suggest around £15, less for under 16s. This can be donated at registration on the day and if you pay income tax you will get the opportunity to request that your donation be grant aided. Hivelo is a registered charity. Whilst we intended the up front entry to be free, the system requires us to charge a minimum £1 plus £1 application fee.

Two distances are offered, 71km and 42km. Routes will be signed over the full distance. However entrants are advised to make themselves familiar with the route beforehand. Those under 16 must be accompanied by an adult.

About the Event

Info for Riders

Registration will start at 8.30. To protect the hall floor from damage by cleats, please remove your cycling shoes when entering. If cycling to the venue, you may wish to slip a pair of flip flops in your pocket, for your comfort and convenience.

The start will be at 10am with the longer ride set off first, followed by the shorter distance riders. The field will be started at intervals in groups of 12 to 15.  The groups can be self selecting, so if you want to start with particular companions, best to group yourselves together while awaiting the start, otherwise it is unlikely to happen.

This is not a race, and timing will not be provided. A broom wagon will provide emergency support on each ride. However riders must carry appropriate spares like a tube, tyre levers, multi-tool, water and food. No pit stops are provided on the route but refreshments will be provided at the finish.
