Event Overview

Bucks CX Sportive

After the success over the years of the WDMBC mainstream events, the Bucks Off Road Sportive and the Bucks Road Sportive, the experienced team behind the events bring you new for this year the Bucks CX sportive.

The call for events to match the recent popularity of  cross/gravel bikes has increased so we are meeting this demand with our 1st CX sportive. The day’s riding will be similar to that of our off road sportivre however we have selected the gentler bridleways and added some more country lanes and the route will consist of mainly narrow, bumpy and hilly country lanes interspersed with sections of bridleways, which have been picked for their suitability for CX/Gravel bikes. Although the event is recommended for CX and Gravel bikes a number of our club members have completed recee rides on their hard tail MTBs and thoroughly enjoyed the experience so we welcome MTBers.

This debut event will have a choice of 2 distances: a mini Sportive over a 25km route to try and cater for those new to the sport and then the main route which will be over 80 km with over 700metres of climbing making it a challenge and also an ideal preparation event for those about to start the cross season.

Both routes will be signposted.

Downloadable GPX files will be available and sent to those pre entering.

No licence or membership required to enter and entry is open to all however under 16s must be accompanied by a responsible adult.

The event HQ will be the Chiltern Sports and Social club, Maple Lodge Close, Rickmansworth, WD3 2SQ, which has car parking, changing facilities, refreshments and a licensed bar.

A sag wagon will be available for any major mechanicals although riders are expected to be self sufficient and start with spare inner tubes, a multi tool and a pump.

There will be a free feed station for the longer route.

Free tea on finishing. Cakes and rolls will be available to purchase.

Event memento for all finishers.
