DISCC 2019 (Dulwich Inter-schools Cycling Championships)

Track , London – Monday, 06 May 2019

Event Summary

Event Overview

Once again Dulwich College will host the  DISCC at the excellent and historic Herne Hill Velodrome and with its recently resurfaced track, we can be confident of the event going ahead in all but the most extreme weather conditions. This year we have moved the event to the bank holiday Monday, 6th May, as this gives us the freedom to use the track longer and extend the racing programme.

This is in line with our aimed expansion of the event – offering it to more schools and giving more boys and girls the chance to compete for medals and prizes.

About the Event

Info for Riders

As in the past years, we will have three categories of competition:

Senior Open

Under 16 Boys (Year 11s and below)

Open Girls

Riders will be grouped in teams of three competitors in each category:

  1. For each of the six events, points are awarded to the top four placed competitors/teams (5, 3, 2, and 1 point respectively). Medals will be awarded to the first, second and third-placed competitors/teams in each individual event.

In the Scratch and Points Race, with two riders competing per team, each scoring rider has their own points accredited to the team’s total, so a team can score twice.

Over the course of the competition these accumulated points contribute to the final standings of the teams in the overall championship. In the event of a tie in the final number of points for the competition, preference will be given to the quicker of the two teams in the Team Pursuit.

  1. At the completion of the races, trophies will be awarded to each member of the first, second and third-placed teams in each category, and the school of the winning team in each category will be awarded the overall trophies for 2019.

Specific timings will be confirmed nearer the time but the track will be open for sign on, bike collection and warm up from 12 noon and we aim to finish the competition by 6pm at the latest.
