Event Overview

Come and enjoy a fun day in the Peak District experiencing the peaks and dales between Bamford & Bakewell. Suitable for anyone over 14 with moderately good cycling skills.

The event is being sponsored by the Bamford Community Society (which runs Derbyshire’s first community pub) and Thornbridge Brewery one of the finest craft ale producers in the country.

Profits from this ride will be split between Bamford Primary School and the Sheffield Children’s Hospital. You can also take the opportunity to raise money for these great causes.

Over 55km and 996m of elevation including some great sprints, fantastic climbs from Hathersage to Abney, up Cressbrook Hill together with the amazing scenery of the Peaks, you will have a great day out.

Sign up and enjoy the ride and stay around for some amazing hospitality at Thornbridge Brewery and at the Anglers Rest.

Start times will be between 9.30 a.m. and 10.30 a.m.

Bamford Recreation ground is situated on a small side road off Station Road Bamford. Arriving from Hathersage/Hope, turn off the A6187 at Sicklehome Service station, cross the railway line and there is left turn about 600m further on. Turn left Go straight ahead crossing a bridge and the Rec is on the LHS. Take the 2nd entrance. Arriving from the A57, turn at Ladybower reservoir and continue on into Bamford village. The turn to the Rec is on the RHS about 200m after the houses finish.

About the Event

Info for Riders

This is a fun ride to have with friends and family and raise money for two great causes. It is approximately 55 km mainly on side roads with a couple of long climbs and deep descents. Follow strava or take a map!

•Toilets, Parking & Refreshments are available on the Recreation Ground Bamford where the ride starts from 8 am •Pick up your pre-ordered T shirt •Free bike check available •The feed station will be at Thornbridge Brewery at the half way point •Toilet stops are marked on your map •The ride will finishes at the Anglers where food & refreshment will be available •Helmets Wearing of - a cycling helmet conforming to CE standards EN1078 is mandatory for all riders to start. •The cycle route is clearly sign posted •Marshalls are at certain points along the way •Follow the High Way Code at all time •Ride in single file on main roads unless overtaking •Do not litter •Bike break down – you should carry essential repair items & a fully charged mobile phone •Break down bike bus is available for major problems  Any riders under 16 must be accompanied by a person over 18 Any rider under the age of 18 must complete a parental consent form
