LongMynd Batch Burner 2019

Offroad Endurance , Bishops Castle – Saturday, 08 Jun 2019

Event Summary

Event Overview

This is a charity fund raising event in support of Norbury Primary School organised by mountain bikers and friends of the school.

Each year we aim to deliver a different route from the last, featuring some of the Shropshire Hills' finest trails to challenge our riders. The variety of routes we are able to deliver is made possible by the generous support of all the local landowners and farmers granting exclusive rights for us to use their land on this one day of the year. These tracks are not open to Mountain Bikers at any other time.

This year a high proportion of the route is on these private trails. We have put together a fast and flowy endurance themed route to challenge your stamina. Amongst all the climbs there is one short but very steep hill early on that will definitely test you and prizes will be awarded for those that manage to actually ride it! We will be resting the popular Minton Batch for the first time in seven years.

On June 8th 2019 the route will cover just over 45k and 1200 metres of climbing taking in country lanes, bridleways, forest singletrack, drovers roads and open moorland. Entries are raised to 470 riders to reduce the entry panic and help us pay for a new classroom!

The Start and Finish will be back at Norbury Village Hall, Norbury, Shropshire SY9 5EA.

As usual the first few miles are on lovely quiet country lanes to warm up before starting the first challenging climb up the Long Mynd.

Thanks must go to Plush Hill Cycles for helping design the route and to the National Trust, all landowners and all our very generous sponsors who have enabled this event to take place.

Once all entries have sold out a RESERVE LIST WILL OPEN. If you enter the reserve list, your entry fee will only be pending until you are accepted onto the event. A £1 application fee to use this facility will be taken and is non-refundable.

The Organisers reserve the right to change the length of the route due to unforeseen circumstances.
