Event Summary

Event Overview

We are delighted to announce our 4th annual sportive!

The sportive is an ever popular fixture in the club calendar and a celebration of the clubs values - growing our reputation as an inclusive club and contributing to our fundraising for the PROPS charity.

Our club route planners have put together 3 superb rides taking in the best of what Monmouthshire has to offer. Aimed at offering something for all abilities, the routes all follow the same course initially, heading out over the Severn Bridge, climbing up from Chepstow to Devauden before descending down to Raglan. At this stage the short route turns back towards Usk whilst the medium and long routes head on to Abergavenny. For those that want a real test the long option heads out from Abergavenny up the 'not for the faint hearted', category 2, Hay Bluff climb!

About the Event

Info for Riders

So the ride has been getting bigger every year, this time we are expecting around 300 riders and we are confident you will have a fantastic day out, and raise some cash for a great charity at the same time! For those that missed the online registration, there is plenty of space left and we are happy to take entries on the day.

ARRIVING / PAY ON THE DAY

Registration and start will be open from 8.30-9.30 for the long route riders, 9.30-10.30 for the medium route riders, and 10.30-11.30 for the short route riders.  We are hoping all riders should be finished by 4.30pm.

The start point is the Boar’s Head in Aust (Main Rd, Aust, Bristol BS35 4AX).

ROUTE

The route is fully signed using red arrows on a white background and full GPS directions are available from the routes section of the website.  Where the routes split, there will be additional signage. The short route splits off at 18.2 miles, the medium route takes a scenic route into Abergavenny at 22 miles then splits off from the long route at the Abergavenny feed station (28.5 miles) and the long route continues up and over Hay Bluff.

There are three feed stations:

1) The short route will use a feed station at the Usk Castle, 23 miles into the course.

2) The medium route will use feed stations at Abergavenny (in the car park near the Swan Hotel) at 28.5 miles and at the Usk Castle at 39.7 miles.

3) The long route will use feed stations at Abergavenny at 28.5 miles, Talgarth rugby club at 55.1 miles, passing through Abergavenny again if required at 73.5 miles and Usk at 84.7 miles.

A broom wagon will follow the last riders out, and ensure everybody returns safely.  While we expect riders to be able to fix their own flat tyres, a mechanic will be available along the course, should any larger mechanical issues occur.  In case of a problem, mechanical or otherwise, please use the phone numbers on the back of your rider number to contact a ride organiser.
