About the Event

Info for Riders

The Peaky Grinder is an unsupported, unmarshalled reliability ride on the quiet roads of the glorious Peak District National Park. The event is the similar in concept to our other events, including the Gnarmac Attack and Ronde van Vegas. However the Peaky Grinder will be firmly on the tarmac this time.

The event is definately not a race. You're at the wrong gig if you are after that. There's no timing chips, no medals and no finishing times. The challenge is riding up some of the Peak’s iconic climbs withing the 9 hour time limit. There are two different routes depending on how fit your are feeling.

  • The full fat version which is around 115 km takes in Mam Nick, Peaslows, Monsal and Rowsley.
  • The easier, but still challenging, 85 km Semi Skimmed version includes Mam Nick and Monsal.

Both routes include a selection of some of our favourite lesser known climbs.

We have purposely not included any feed stations at the event. We would rather you bought food and drink on route to help our local small businesses and contribute to the communities you are riding through. However there will be tea, coffee and cake available at the event HQ when you get back from your ride. We think you'll have earned it by then !

We'll send you a GPX file with the route details a few days before the event start.

All riders under 16 must be accompaned by an adult and all riders under 18 must gain their guardians permission before entering.

Helmets obligatory. We recommend that you carry a minimum of an inner tube, pump, waterproof, mobile phone and basic first aid kit.

Please note that this is not a race but a test of endurance and navigation skills. Not recommended for novice and inexperienced riders.

Being a reliability ride the route is unsigned, unsupported and unmarshalled. A GPX file with the route on will be sent to you along with a rider information pack a few days before the date.

Please check out the event website for more information.
