National Masters Circuit Race Championships (Day 1)

Closed Circuit , Hayes – Saturday, 13 Jul 2019

Event Summary

Event Overview

1 July Update: PER BELOW - NO FURTHER ENTRIES ARE BEING ACCEPTED. NO EOL AT THE NATIONALS.

17 June: BC HQ have agreed the extended close to 12 Noon on Sat 22 June - there will be no further extension.

15 June Update: The extended close to 22 June is now subject to negotiation with BC HQ. However entries can still be submitted on-line.

7 June Update: Primary close is 12 Noon on 15 June. This is now extended to 12 Noon on 22 June - any entries post 12 Noon on 15 June will be on a first come basis. Note that all fields are limited to 50 + reserves (historic DNS = 20-25%). Entery Fee £35.

THESE CHAMPIONSHIPS ARE FOR MEN ONLY ON DAY 1 (WOMEN MASTERS HAVE CHAMPIONSHIPS ON DAY 2 - SUNDAY 14 JULY).

THERE IS ALSO AN OPEN 2/3/4 CAT SUPPORT RACE. Relevant Masters can also enter this race.

Following a highly successful 2 years at Rockingham Speedway, with the venue being sold we have reverted to the well known and extensively used Hillingdon circuit.

NOTE: ENTRIES CLOSE AT 1200 ON 15TH JUNE. THERE IS NO ENTRY ON THE DAY.

HOWEVER, SUBJECT TO THE TOTAL ENTRIES RECEIVED AT CLOSING (1200 SATURDAY 15 JUNE), CONSIDERATION MAY BE GIVEN TO EXTENDING ENTRIES FOR A MAXIMUM OF 1 WEEK (whereupon subsequent Acceptance will be on a first come basis).

SEE BC REGS BELOW, YOU MUST HAVE THE PREFIX GBR ON YOUR LICENCE TO BE ELIGIBLE FOR THIS NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP. The licence itself does not have to be from BC, as long as it is issued by a UCI recognised federation.

MASTERS ARE FROM 30 YEARS OF AGE, WITH CHAMPIONSHIPS FOR EACH 5 YEAR AGE GROUP, BASED ON YEAR OF BIRTH NOT DOB. FOR EXAMPLE YOU CAN BE 29 NOW - JUST AS LONG AS YOU ARE 30, SOMETIME DURING 2019

LOCATION: HILLINGDON CYCLE CIRCUIT (NEAR HEATHROW)

Hillingdon is an excellent facility and race course, with easy access via M4 or M40/A40.

The 2019 British Cycling (Men & Women) National Masters Circuit Race Championships will be held on Saturday 13th July and Sunday 14th July with 60-75 minute races for each 5 year age group. Where entries per age group are low, we reserve the right to consolidate races with separate results per 5 year age group. Please note that there will be no concurrent racing.

Each 5 year age group will have separate Championships, provided that there is a minimum of 3 entrants in each 5 year age group. Failing which entries will be consolidated with the next lower age group for one Championship. For clarity, the "60+" age group, includes 60-64; 65-69, 70-74, and more age groups as appropriate and relevant, a Championship being subject to a minimum of 3 entries (and it is based on entries not the number that Sign On on the day). We also have some flexibility in the program to run additional separate races for the 60+ age groups if the number of entries justifies doing so.

Please note that per BC guidelines:

1. To be eligible to enter, your licence, wherever issued, must have the Nationality as "GBR", and to have been issued at least 28 days prior to race day.

2. You must be a Silver or Gold member of British Cycling and hold a valid full racing licence.

3. Age group is based on year of birth, not the actual date of birth.

4. No entry on the day. Day licences are not applicable.

5. Entries close 28 days prior ie. at 12 Noon on Saturday 15 June  2019.

Note: To ease cashflow, and to minimise the payment issues that often arise (eg. credit cards that have been changed), PROVISIONAL Acceptance will be made on a regular basis up to closing date. If we are oversubscribed, for a National Championship I am obliged to choose the best field. That cannot be 100% completed until closing date.

Based on past experience we are unlikely to be oversubscribed in Masters races with E/1/2 cats – especially in the 40+ age groups. Thus E/1/2 cats will receive early notification of Acceptance (though technically this is still only provisional). Similarly, all 60+ age group entrants.

Based on a review of 3rd cats points (on 8 June), those 3rd cats with 10 or more points  will be (provisonally accepted). The remaining  3rd or 4th cats will not be accepted until closing date, whereupon, if we are oversubscribed, I will go through the process of checking what points they have, in order to as fairly as possible determine who is accepted. This will be done within 48 hrs of close (12 Noon on 15 June) – and all will be notified accordingly.

Within 48 hours of the initial close, those who do not qualify, will also be notified and offered the opportunity to be a Reserve or to withdraw, with their entry refunded (less the BC admin charge). Maximum in any one field = 50 + reserves (historically we have experienced 25% DNS).

No refunds will be given (for any reason) after the primary closing date.
