Event Summary

Event Overview

Sportive 2019 – Sunday 1st September 2019

Come and join Wensum Valley Cycling Club for a great day out on your bike in our popular sportive arranged by cyclists, for cyclists. Riding along some of our favourite roads, we’ll take you on a tour of the scenic Norfolk countryside that’s right on our doorstep.

This year we are again teaming up with our charity partner, the East Anglian Air Ambulance.  We want to recognise and support the fantastic life-saving work that they do so in 2018 we gave 50% of the profits from the sportive to this wonderful charity (the other 50% went on funding other cycling events). They’ll be much in evidence on the day to cheer you on and will receive a donation from the Sportive to help their fund-raising effort.

The event will open for entry on 1st March 2019 with 40, 60 and 100 mile routes.  This year also sees the welcome return of our (free to enter) 6 mile “Family Ride”.

The 40 mile route starts at 10.00am with a food stop at 20 miles. The 60 mile route has a 9.00am start time with food stops at the start, at 30 miles and at the finish.  The 100 mile route starts at 8.00am with food stops at the start, at 30 miles, 60 miles, 80 miles and at the finish.

Please enter online for these sportive routes as it helps us with the planning and saves you a few quid over signing-up on the day.

Everyone who completes the event gets one of our high quality finishers medals to take home as a souvenir of a fab day.

No need to enter online for the “Family Ride”, just turn up on the day, sign-up, grab your cue sheet and off you go!  This ride takes you on a short tour around our home village of Weston Longville, has a quiz to fill in as you go and a prize at the end.  Please note that children are not allowed to ride on their own; they must be accompanied by a parent.
