Event Overview
The friendly and very popular Ryedale Rumble is back for its second year on the sportive calendar for 2019. Still being run by the Friends of Ryedale School to help raise funds for our small but outstanding school the Rumble has 3 routes so offers something for everyone.
After 7 weeks of wall to wall sunshine on our inaugural event we woke to lashing rain, wind and even some fog on the hills. Despite all this The Ryedale Rumble 2018 was a huge success! The cyclists didn't let the weather dampen their spirits, in fact it only heightened their determination to complete their chosen route. The amazing reviews we received afterwards were testament to how well organised the event had been.
The three routes take in the North York Moors, the Howardian Hills and of course Ryedale itself, the routes offer an amazing contrast of spectacular far flung vistas, stunning scenery and quiet country roads. We hope the three routes offer something for most abilities.
The lengths of the three routes are 167.9 km, 114.8km and 67.0 km. The long route (Extreme) takes in the now traditional monument climbs of Boltby, Blakey and Rosedale Chimney Banks. The medium route (Challenge) takes in both Boltby and Blakey Bank. The short (Inspire) has been altered slightly to avoid as much time on main roads and includes Boltby Bank. All routes start and finish at Ryedale School. We will again be offering our well stocked feeding stations along the routes with savouries, homemade cakes, fruit and gels.Long Route 'Extreme' https://www.strava.com/routes/10579071
