Icebreaker Youth Series Round 1 2019

Track , Newport – Saturday, 26 Jan 2019

Event Summary

Event Overview

The ever popular Icebreaker Series, now in its 9th year, comprises 3 rounds of endurance based Omniums for youth riders. Riders can enter single rounds but will need to compete in all three rounds to be eligible for the overall Series title. Each round includes scratch, elimination and points races for each category. We will race boys and girls separately as long as numbers are high as in previous years.

Medals will be awarded after each round with overall trophies awarded at the final round.

Icebreakers are an ideal opportunity for experienced youth riders to brush off the cobwebs and test yourself against the best in the UK. Equally it is an opportunity for those riders relatively new to track racing to test their fitness in early season.

Each round will carry British Cycling points.

About the Event

Info for Riders

Girls and boys will race separately. Youth C riders and Youth B girls will complete their omnium during the Saturday morning and B boys and all Youth A riders will compete in the afternoon. Events will be endurance based and aimed at competent track riders. If your indoor race experience is limited, please contact the organiser in advance. There will be 3 events per category; scratch, points and elimination. We may put in a 4th race if there are no heats required for the main races. No disc or deep section (50mm+) wheels will be allowed for Youth categories. Non riders and supporters are encouraged to use the stands. This adds to the atmosphere and allows you to be close to the café!
