Reivers Road Race 2018

Road , Cornhill-on-Tweed – Saturday, 24 Mar 2018

Event Summary

Event Overview

Berwick Wheelers CC will hold its 5th consecutive annual road race based at Etal Village Hall in Northumberland. Tackling a 19.70 mile circuit of the Reivers road race loop the event has proved both challenging, competitive and an exciting race.  For 2018 Berwick Wheelers are proud to continue the same format as 2017 with a catagory 3/4 race just tipping the scales at 40miles and the continued addition for 2/3/4 catagory riders with just over 60 mile circuit.

In addition to the 2017 circuit the main difference is the finish will now finish on ford bank.  The loop will continue to use the added section of 2017 proving succesfull with the additional climb which will certainly test both races.

A field open to 60 riders for both races utilising some of the Tour of Britain route for 2015 takes on Ford Bank KOM climb which have proved to challenge the peloton and make this an electric nail biting finish.

A fully supported event including first aid and on route mechanic means we have the competitors covered for most eventualitites.

The Rievers Road Race starts at Etal Village Hall and is neutralisied up Ford Bank for both races before the flag is dropped and the race is started. The catagory 3/4 race will tackle the loop twice in total and with the ford bank finish.

The 2/3/4 race will tackle the same loop three times in total before using the same road to finish on ford bank.

Information on the race will be emailed to competitors as soon as possible and results will be published both on www.berwick-wheelers.com and British Cycling.

About the Event

Info for Riders

The Reivers RR will be held on the same course as last year's inaugural event however there is a slight change to using ford bank to finish riders off.

The format will be as 2 laps of the 19.70mile loop of a testing but opportunistic circuit for the catagory 3/4 competitors.

The format will be 3 laps of the same 19.70 mile loop of a testing but opportunitic circuit for the 2/3/4/ catatory competitors.

To allow the field to settle and get a bit of heat into early season legs the race will remain neutralised right through until the easier side of Ford village (3.5km into the first lap) thereby taking the sting out of the Ford bank climb at the start of the first lap.

This race is usually over subscribed and entry is down to the descretion of the event organiser.  Please bare this in mind when making enquiries about the event.  The start list will be published soon after the event has closed where riders will either be accepted, rejected or on hold when the event has closed.
