Lee Valley Women-Only Circuit Series #5

Closed Circuit , London – Friday, 29 Sep 2017

Event Summary

Event Overview

In August and September, we are putting together a small series of Friday evening women-only circuit races.  This is a personal project and pilots a new concept which aims to build a race series FOR women, run (mostly) BY women.  The driving force behind the idea is to offer something for everyone; competitive racing for those who want it, in a relaxed, welcoming and social environment for less confident competitors who have recently started racing and wish to develop their skills and experience.

The series will be a collaboration between organiser and riders, with each event run by volunteers and helpers from the clubs & teams taking part.

SOCIAL

These are short events, on Friday nights.  We have the circuit entirely to ourselves and there are MANY bars nearby!  Friends and family are all welcome.  Creating a relaxed, social environment is the main driving force behind this idea. Think of it as a Girls' Night Out with a bike race!

POINTS & PRIZES

Ranking points will be available to riders who are pursuing them (top ten overall) and prizes will be given to the top E12, 3rd and 4th category finishers.

RIDE AT YOUR OWN PACE

Less experienced riders will be able to ride at their own pace, gaining confidence and improving fitness without pressure or intimidation.  These races are suitable for riders with limited bunch racing experience*.  If you're undecided please come along to watch and talk to other riders.  All kit must be fully compliant with current BC regulations.

*we recommend that riders undergo race-ready skills training prior to racing on this, or any other circuit.

CLUBS & TEAMS

Supporting clubs and teams are welcome to use these sessions to advertise their own events and recruit new members.

YOUR RACE NEEDS YOU!

Most importantly, we need volunteers from all clubs and teams (male and female!) to help out with marshalling, sign-on, line judging/timing (training will be given) and First Aid.  Helpers will all be given free membership for our Winter season road series and/or track track league.
