Event Summary

Event Overview

North Lincolnshire Council has joined forces with Curlys Athletes, Sportive HQ and Blizard Physiotherapy and Sports Performance Clinic to host a North Lincolnshire Tour of Britain Sportive on Sunday 10 September.

The Sportive will give people the chance to get the ‘real tour experience’ and ride part of the route the professional cyclists will take on Tuesday 5 September during Stage Three of the OVO Energy Tour of Britain.

There will be three routes that cyclists can choose from: 24, 60 or 103 miles.

The routes and more details will be shared in coming weeks along with on-line entry, in the meantime watch this webpage or join our Facebook events page for the latest information.

Jenny Couch, lead organiser for the North Lincolnshire Tour of Britain, said:

“We are thrilled to be working with Curlys Athletes, Sportive HQ and Blizard Physiotherapy and Sports Performance Clinic to create the North Lincolnshire Tour of Britain Cycling Sportive.

“The sportive will be held a few days after Stage Three of the Tour of Britain comes to North Lincolnshire, so the decorations will still be up around North Lincolnshire and cycling fever will still be in the air. It will be a brilliant way to celebrate the Tour of Britain and get amateur cyclists and communities involved.

“The Tour of Britain is a huge international event and so it only seems right to have legacy events such as the sportive taking place in North Lincolnshire.

“It is also an opportunity for those that may not be able to see the Tour of Britain travelling across North Lincolnshire to get involved in a community cycling experience".

North Lincolnshire is set to host an entire stage of the OVO Energy Tour of Britain for the first time ever this September, as Britain’s premier road cycling event heads to the area on Tuesday 5 September 2017.
120 of the world’s top cyclists will take on a 172-kilometre stage, starting from the beautiful 300-acre estate of Normanby Hall Country Park and finishing in the heart of Scunthorpe near Central Park.
