Welsh Cycling Dirt Crits 2

MTB XC , Trefriw – Saturday, 08 Jul 2017

Event Summary

Event Overview

The Welsh Cycling Dirt Crits have been conceived to offer young riders the opportunity to develop their mountain bike skills.  The program is targeted at all children between the ages of 7 to 16 with the only pre riding requisite being an ability to ride independently and stop safely using both brakes.

The format will offer the children there specific experiences –

  1. Pre Dirt Crit Coaching

The coaching session will take place on the pre prepared dirt crit circuit will give the riders the opportunity to practise the course and ask the coaches any questions they may have about skills development or the race ahead. The riders will also be coached over the technical sections and helped to select appropriate lines (A and B) helping the rider to have as much fun as possible whilst developing their skills.

  1. The Dirt Crit

The Dirt Crit racing will be on the same circuit as used for the coaching sessions, thus offering the riders the opportunity to put into practise the skills that they’ve been coached on.  The course will consist of some climbing and fun filled descents and some faster sections of single track along with technical sections, all offering a minimum of 1 A line and 1 B line.  Typically, the course will be no longer than a 10 min lap for under 16s.

  1. Post Dirt Crit coach lead skill session

To further enhance the rider’s skills and address opportunities for improvement directly following on from the race, there will be 6 skill sections all of which will have their own individual coach.
