The Snowdonia MTB Challenge

Offroad Endurance , Llanberis – Sunday, 26 Mar 2017

Event Summary

Event Overview

The Snowdonia MTB Challenge

The Snowdonia MTB Challenge is a mountain bike challenge set in Snowdonia, starting and finishing in the picturesque village of Llanberis, at the foot of mount Snowdon. The route will descend a section of one of Snowdon's paths, the only MTB event to do so. In fact it’s the only MTB event in this part of the world! You will face long stiff climbs, fast grass tracks, technical single-tracks, forest roads and tarmac to link it all together!

It is challenging, but very rewarding! It will challenge your riding and fitness! The route will take you to exciting places, and unless you were local you wouldn’t get to ride. Up in to the mountains, down the other side, into the forest, pass stunning lakes and mountains with Snowdon in view from various angles, before returning back up and over another mountain for the final descent to the finish!

It’s not a race! It’s a challenge, and a challenge it is!! As it’s inside the national park, we have to adhere to park rules. There will be sections of road to ride on, but trust us, what you ride off road will more than make up for it!

There are four options. Short, Medium, Long and the Dragon.

The short one at 22k misses out the forest section and heads back around the mountains for the final lung-busting climb to the final decent.

The medium route at 45k goes into the forest where you will ride fire roads and single tracks with red and black options, and breath taking scenery before heading back for the lung-busting climb up to the final descent!

The long at 60k, which will be two laps of the forest!

And the DRAGON, an all mighty 75k, which will be three laps!

All distances are the same price. Simply enter and decide on the day which distance to go for.

Anyone with good fitness and a mountain bike can complete this. If you’re crazy enough you can do it on a CX bike. It’s not on trail centers or bike specific tracks, but on bridleways, mountain paths, forestry double tracks, forestry single tracks and the road section.

Event T-shirts can be ordered on the website www.bryniaumtb.co.uk prior to the event and collected at the event HQ on the day. Or email gareth@bryniaumtb.co.uk with your order.
