Cycle Sportive , Retford – Sunday, 16 Apr 2017

Event Summary

Event Overview

A 114km Non-competitive Cyclo sportive around the pleasant roads and lanes of North Nottinghamshire.

Held annually by Bridgegate Cycles on the same day as the Amstel Gold race in the Netherlands. Amstel Standing is run by Volunteers in aid of Retford Lions Club - registered charity 519614. http://retford.lions105e.org.uk/

Rendez-vous from 8.00am in the North West corner of Retford market square, for a 9 o clock steady away start time. On the Amstel Standing we encourage self-reliance. You are setting yourself a challenge, so its up to you to ensure you are fit enough and that your bike is in good condition. There are four Checkpoints en-route where you can top up on water and moral support. Navigation is your responsibility, study the map to supplement the written description and carry out a little homework beforehand and you'll not get lost. GPX map details and a cue sheet PDF are available for download. The route may be signposted but don't trust signs, they can get moved or changed.

CHECK IN in good time please, collect your Brevet card at ride registration from 8am, set off after 9, set off too early and you will be too early for the feed stations. The route is designed to appeal to cyclists of all abilities, from experienced club cyclists to total novices. It is a scenic and social ride. The event is open to any cyclist. Riders under the age of 18 must be accompanied by a responsible adult cycling with them.

Everyone follow's a set route at their own pace within time limits of 3.5hrs and 7hrs max. IT IS NOT A RACE please do not treat it as such. Have a brisk ride by all means but don't act like you're in LeTour and make a nuisance to other road users. When you're finished, you can catch up with other riders at Cafe Roubaix on Bridgegate.

Participation is entirely at your own risk and the organisers accept no responsibility for loss or injury.
