Event Overview

The Youth Tour of Scotland 2017 race is open to Youth A boys and Youth A and B girls only. This is a team event and each Boys team must include 4 riders. The girls can have a team of only 3 or 4 riders. All the teams and helpers (2 per team) will be accommodated on a Full Board basis at Strathallan Independent School at Forgandenny, Perthshire. The cost of the event is per team member, the per rider cost includes accommodation, all meals from dinner on Friday to lunch on Monday and race entries. The team helper is accommodation and all meals from dinner on Friday to lunch on Monday.

The race comprises of 4 stages on closed roads in and around the City of Perth.

Friday 7th April – Arrival and registration of all teams Strathallan School at Forgandenny

Saturday 8th April is a Road Race in and around the village of Forteviot in Perthshire

Sunday 9th April Stages 2 & 3 TBC

Monday 10th April Stage 4 final race on a 30/40km Kermesse in and around Strathallan School.

The final podium presentations will commence after lunch at approx1400 that day.

Following the growth in popularity of the event, limits on field size, availability of accommodation and Scottish Cycling’s desire to develop the event as one of the strongest youth racing events on the UK calendar, the entry process has been reviewed and Scottish Cycling will implement the following changes:

For 2017 all Scottish Cycling regions and British Cycling regions in England will be invited to enter a team of 4 boys and 4 girls. In addition, a number of national teams who have previously supported the event will be invited to enter a team. Boys will be Youth A age category and Girls Youth A or Youth B. An entry fee will be required for each entrant and team helpers.

Entry Guidelines

  1. The invitations will be issued to the chairperson of each region listed above and national team managers.
  1. Confirmation of entry will be accepted only from:
  • The regional development group chairperson, in Scotland
  • The regional chairperson or secretary, as listed in the British Cycling handbook, in England
  • The national team manager

Entries must be received by 12 noon Monday 30th January 2017.

  1. Any team spaces not being used by the teams listed above will be made available for open entry and will be publicised via the Scottish Cycling website and social media after the closing date.
  1. The closing date for open entry will be 12 noon Monday 27th February 2017 and notification will be made to teams by Monday 6th March 2017.

 

  1. Monday 6th March will be the date for final confirmation of team members.
  1. The following selection for any open entry  places will based on the follow criteria:
  1. A club team based in, and comprised of, riders from a region that has not submitted a regional team entry.
  2. Teams that have previously supported the event.  
  3. Teams that have not previously entered
  4. Second teams of a region or club
  1. For each of the above criteria teams that are able to field 4 boys and 4 girls will be given preference.
  1. Regions may only select riders who have the name of the region printed on their National Federation racing license.
  1. Once any team entry has been confirmed riders may not transfer their entry from a regional team to a club team.
  1. Teams can include one Team Coach and one Team Manager. Any additional team staff are subject to accommodation availability and agreement in writing with the Event Director.

For further information on team selections please contact your Regional Development Officer in Scotland, your British Cycling Foundation Coach in England or National Coach for all National teams.

Please note, this is a TEAM ONLY event; individual riders from the team may enter separately but must state the name of the team and team manager name. Team Helpers must state the name of the team they are helping. The race is open to teams of Youth “A” boys and Youth “A” & “B” girls, the boys must have 4 riders while the girls can be 3 or 4; each team is allowed one “helper” who will stay at the accommodation. Any Team wishing to take additional helpers please contact organiser for availability of extra accommodation.
