Wallingford Festival Of Cycling 2016 Mountain Bike and Family Rides

Offroad Leisure , Wallingford – Sunday, 26 Jun 2016

Event Summary

Event Overview

The Wallingford Festival of Cycling enters its 2nd Year with an expanded programme that aims to see around 3500 people taking part in as many different forms of cycling as we can fit in.

This includes Sportive, Mountain Bike Rides, Family rides, Go Ride Childrens Races, Wallingford Rides for Beginners, Penny Farthings and much more.

Our competitive programme includes a mens road race and town centre criterium races for Youth, Men and Woman. We aim for a day of great riding and great entertainment in our beautiful market town by the River Thames in Oxfordshire. We are a not for profit event with any surplus going to support RP Racing Team or cycling coaching for local children. We are expecting around 6000 spectators and have to thank Wallingford Town Council, the people of Wallingford, South Oxfordshire District Council and Oxfordshire County Council for being wonderful hosts. The programme starts at 8:45 and finishes at 19:30 and see our website for details of hotels, campsites and B&B's.

This page is for the entry to the 70 km Mountain Bike Ride and the 10 Mile Family Ride.

The 10 Mile Family Ride explores some fun, safe cycle paths around the Wallingford area. It will involve some gentle climbing and descents but will not involve any technical riding. It will be a waymarked route that starts on the Kinecroft at 8.45 am and finishes on the Kinecroft. We have put this early so that the various family events through the day are spread out. After the event we have a free secure bike park so that you can enjoy the rest of the festival. All finishers get a certificate.

The 70 km Mountain Bike ride is aimed at regular mountain bike riders who can cycle on off road tracks and trails for 3-4 hours. It will take in many of our favourite technical sections in the Chiltern Hills out from Wallingford including some propper climbs. It will be well waymarked and we have a refreshments point along the way. It will start 11 am on the Kinecroft in Wallingford and also finish there. There is a secure bike park so that you can enjoy the rest of the festival in the town centre.
