Racing for rookies!

Closed Circuit , Lancaster – Saturday, 05 Sep 2015

Event Summary

Event Overview

Come and try cycle racing! This is a chance for young racing rookies to give it a go on our traffic free race circuit.

Anyone born in 1999 or later can take part, so long as they have not previously raced in British Cycling races which require a racing licence. This is a requirement of a Go-Ride race, to ensure that they are entry-level races.  If you are not sure if you can take part, get in touch to discuss with us.

You don't even need to have your own bike and helmet as we have some to lend out!  Send an email to jwilliamson68@hotmail.co.uk with 'Cog Set Bike Register' in the subject line if you would like to book a bike to borrow.   (You could also come to one of our Saturday morning sessions in August to get used to the bike).

Each rider will take part in two races - one short (go as fast as you can!) and one longer (use your energy wisely!)

We guarantee a friendly and supportive atmosphere where all riders' efforts are appreciated and affirmed. We'll also provide some light refreshments!

Further information

There's no online entry - just pay £2 on the day.

The precise format is not yet decided, but we will probably have boys and girls in the same age groups racing at the same time. Depending on the number of entries we may run the under 10s and under 8s races at the same time, then the Under 12s, followed by the under 14s and under 16s races at the same time.

Please arrive for sign on at 9:30, with the first race starting at 10am.

There are no gear restrictions in Go-Ride racing.

If arriving by car, please park in the area behind Salt Ayre swimming pool and walk up to the track. We have toilets by the track, or you use the toilets, changing rooms and showers at the sports centre.

Please note, the race organiser, Sue Holden, will be away for most of August. She'll respond to emails on 1st September. Alternatively, pop down to Cog Set on a Saturday morning, or contact the Club Chair, Mary Neil, through the contact details on our website.
