Ayrshire Alps Friendly

Reliability Trial , Kirkmichael – Sunday, 30 Aug 2015

Event Summary

Event Overview

Join us for an all-ayrshire road cycling challenge across the Ayrshire Alps Cycle Park.

This is a no-frills social ride aimed at cycling clubs within Ayrshire and the Scottish Cycling South West development group.  The idea for the ride started through conversation with our friends the Fullarton Wheelers.

There will be two ride options, starting and finishing in Kirkmichael. This is a non-timed, non-competitive ride, rather like a Sportive but even more laid-back with a club focus. The Ayrshire Alps Friendly is a great opportunity to ride and socialise with cyclists from across Ayrshire and Dumfriesshire.

100km

The 100km route heads west to the climb of Blackie’s Brae, then crosses back via Glenginnet and the slopes of Glenalla. Onto the big daddy of the ‘Nic O Balloch’. The shallow slopes of Tairlaw Shalloch are rewarded with a 5mile descent towards Straiton before the final categorised climb of Largs.

60km

The 60km follows most the route of the 100km, but skips the climbs of Glenginnet, Glenalla and Largs.

there will be a small entry fee of £3 to cover levy costs, with any and all profit going to our 2015 Charity appeal – MS Society.
