Marlow Red Kite Ride 2015

Cycle Sportive , Marlow – Sunday, 06 Sep 2015

Event Summary

Event Overview

In 2015 we will be running the highly successful Red Kite Ride for the fourth time.  This sportive is based in the picturesque village of Marlow, and run by Marlow Riders cycling club.  All funds raised will go to the charity Cyclists Fighting Cancer.

We will have four routes.  A new 126 mile route, in addition to our existing 50, 80 and 100 mile routes.  All three routes go over the Chilterns and the longer route heads into the Vale of Aylesbury and up to Brill.  The routes include hills and flatter sections, so are suited to experienced riders aiming for a fast time and for riders aiming to complete a 'century' or a 'half' for the first time.

We will have four well-stocked feed stations with usual energy drinks and food.  The start / finish is at Marlow Sports Club which has refreshments as well as changing and shower facilities.  We will have free off-road parking a short ride from the start.

About the Event

Info for Riders

The popular Marlow Red Kite Ride is returning for the fourth time. The 2015 event offers four routes in varied countryside, through Buckinghamshire, Oxfordshire and Berkshire, with all routes heading over the Chilterns and the longer routes heading into the Vale of Aylesbury. We have a new 126 (200km) route in addition to our 100, 80 and 50 mile routes. All routes include hills and flatter sections, and so are suited to experienced riders aiming for a fast time and to riders aiming to complete a 'century' or a 'half' for the first time. The first 45 miles of the new 126 mile route are particularly challenging, including climbs of Whiteleaf and Wardrobes The Red Kite Ride is hosted by the Marlow Riders cycling club, with all proceeds going to Cyclists Fighting Cancer, a charity that provides bikes to young children recovering from cancer.
