The Eden Classic is a brand new cyclosportive for 2015 and offers three spectacular rides that take in the most scenic parts of the South Coast in Cornwall.

The Eden Classic gives riders the opportunity to enjoy the stunning Eden experience whilst supporting the international projects that bring about environmental, social, and economic regeneration.

There are three routes, all of which take in the dramatic scenery of the south Cornwall coast and a stop at Heligan where riders can refuel at a refreshment station at the entrance to the acclaimed Lost Gardens.

The 36 mile short route http://gb.mapometer.com/cycling/route_3967356.html goes south west from Eden and includes the villages of Charlestown, Pentewan, Mevagissey and Gorran before the stop at Heligan and return to Eden at Bodelva near St Austell.

The 62 mile mid-route http://gb.mapometer.com/cycling/route_3971805.html includes the short route and goes on through Tregony, Veryan and Portloe on the way back to Eden.

The long route of 100 miles http://gb.mapometer.com/cycling/route_3976369.html includes the two shorter routes and adds a scenic loop to the east of the River Fowey, taking in Lostwithiel and Lerryn before returning to the finish at Eden.  In total the long route includes 2,433 metres of climbing, making it a real test for even the most experienced road cyclists.

The Eden Classic sportive is a brand new event for 2015, organised by Tempus Leisure in partnership with the Eden Project. It offers riders the unique chance to pedal the length of Eden, past the world famous Rainforest and Mediterranean Biomes, as they start their challenging journey. They will ascend steep hairpin bends up the side of the former china clay quarry before taking a choice of three routes along the south Cornwall coast and then finishing back over the finishing line in the heart of Eden. The Eden Classic offers riders a choice of three route options ranging from a short yet challenging ride of 36 miles, to a middle distance of 62 miles and a long ride for the experienced sportive rider of 100 miles. All routes will make the most of the undulating south coast and all riders will pass through picturesque villages and coastal beauty spots, whichever route they choose.
