The Steeplechase Summer CX No.2

Cyclo-Cross , Warwick – Thursday, 04 Sep 2014

Event Summary

Event Overview

On the 4th of September 2014 a little bit of Warwick will become a little bit Belgian as Summer Cyclocross makes it's second foray to introduce the inhabitants of South Warwickshire and beyond to the lung burning, grin-inducing discipline of Cyclocross.

Warwick is normally associated with steeplechasing horses but on this evening it will be the cross riders doing the steeplechasing and the air will be ringing to the sound of cowbells and brake blocks rather than stirrups and hooves.

This event is intended to provide an introduction to Cyclocross but without the wind, rain and cold but as this is Britain we cannot guarantee anything on the weather front. This event is open to cross bikes and mountain bikes although MTB riders will find themselves at a disadvantage on parts of the course.

There will be a youngsters race, 6-12 years old (20 minutes, prizes for each age category) and a senior race (~50 minutes, ladies and gents from 18+). Juniors (13-17 will have the option to race the senior course for 30 minutes) There will be separate prize categories within the senior race so there will be plenty to race for.

Cyclocross is the ultimate cycling spectator sport so please bring your supporters with you!

This will be the last opportunity for race practice before the West Midlands League (www.wmccl.co.uk) starts in earnest!
