Bury CSC Go-Ride Tour Grand Finale

Posted 01/08/2014 - John Burston

Over 50 youngsters took part, with the racing starting at 10:30 and finishing at 6:30, so a real full day of racing and fun for them all.

In the morning we ran a “Get to know your bike sessions, then timed time trials sessions to sort out the abilities, and after lunch, we held a team match with 8 teams competing with each team allowed to pick their own team name, which ranged from the Tele Tubbies, trough to the purple grapes, and all points between.

After a close fought 32 heats of racing, it was the tele tubbies who won the day, with the Hero Brains in 2nd place, the potatoes 3rd and the Aerodynamics 4th.

All the riders were awarded certificates, and wrist bands with the top three teams also receiving Gold ,silver and bronze medals, and the other teams,T shirts.

The evening sessions for the more experienced riders, who had already participated in four other Go-Ride events throughout the month, were divided up into 4 teams who again fought out a very close match over 16 heats, with the Yellow team taking the win on the night, but only seven points split all four teams at the end.

When the aggregate scores were added up from the previous rounds,it was the Blues who had won with 135 points, the Yellows in 2nd place on 126 points, the Reds were 3rd on 121 points and the Whites finished on 115 points.

Once again the winning teams were awarded with medals. The Blues also received racing gloves, wrist bands, tee shirts and certificates, with the rest of the competitors receiving certificates and wrist bands in the appropriate colours of their teams.

A very busy day but also very rewarding with all the participants enjoying the day and a large number wishing to come back and try the sport again.
