Event Overview

After riding the 2013 event, British Cycling asked if the Ronde Van Calderdale is the toughest sportive in Britain. If you want to find out, enter the event.

2014will feature two ride lengths. The shorter ride will be 35 miles, with 10 tarmac and cobbled road sections in and around Calderdale with the longer route being 72 miles to test the skills, stamina and endurance with great scenery along the way.

The entry fee will include insurance, feed stations en route and changing facilities at Spen Valley Sport College. Some on-site parking is available, or park nearby and ride to the Sports College. Refreshments will be available before and after the event at extra cost from outside caterers.

The event will be well signposted before and after each junction.

About the Event

Info for Riders

Start times will commence from 09.30 for the longer ride, staggered at 5 minute intervals. Start time for the shorter ride will be 10:00. Entry fees are £12 for the short route and £21 for the long route. A choice of a 40 mile or 80 mile reliability trial starting from Spen Valley Sports College (Roberttown Lane, Roberttown). This ride is a local version of the infamous Tour of Flanders and will include numerous cobbled climbs. The Route will be well signposted before and after each junction along the ride. A map will be available to download before the event if participants wish to print one off beforehand. RETRO and VINTAGE KIT is welcomed but not mandatory but there will be a special prize for the best dressed rider. Certificates will be given at the end for various finishing times and the money raised will go to Kirklees Cycling Academy. This is a ride using open roads therefore the highway code must be followed at all times.
