British Cycling has announced that the 2017 British Cycling National Track Championships will take place from 27-29 January.

The annual championships, which previously took place in late September, will take place over three days at Manchester’s National Cycling Centre, the home of British Cycling and the Great Britain Cycling Team.

The event will see Britain’s best track cyclists going head-to-head with the next generation of emerging talent, all competing for the coveted red, white and blue national champions’ jerseys.

Commenting on the event’s new position in the track cycling calendar, British Cycling’s cycle sport and membership director, Jonny Clay, said: “Identifying an opportunity in late January for the British Cycling National Track Championships demonstrates the willingness of British Cycling to continue to progress the event, which has seen significant growth in recent years following the success of British cyclists and unprecedented increased in interest in the sport.

“Holding the championships in January means the event is better-positioned within the well-established winter track cycling calendar and maximises use of Britain’s five outstanding 250m indoor velodromes for preparation and training prior to competition.
