British Cycling has today announced that Monica Greenwood has been appointed as the Podium Women’s Endurance Coach for the Great Britain Cycling Team.

Greenwood, herself a member of the Talent Team back in 2005, joined British Cycling in May 2012 as a Go-Ride Coach. From there, Greenwood coached along the Pathway until reaching her current role as Junior Academy Women’s Endurance Coach, for which she was appointed in 2015. Under Greenwood’s guidance, the Great Britain Cycling Team’s Junior Academy Women’s Endurance squad have enjoyed successes on both the road and the track.

Performance Director Stephen Park said: “I am delighted with the appointment of Monica as our new Podium Women’s Endurance Coach, she is a fantastic coach and has truly earned this opportunity.

“The riders received the news with excitement yesterday morning and they are looking forward to continuing their journey to Tokyo with Monica as their coach, with the support of the wider Performance Support Team.

“Personally, this has been a very rewarding process as we had a number of internal candidates who all submitted impressive applications and delivered outstanding interviews. It was a reminder of the depth of talented coaches we have along our pathway system, and the candidates who weren’t successful on this occasion will continue to be supported in their ongoing career development.

“The recruitment for a new Podium Men’s Sprint Coach is ongoing.”
