Team USN athletes concluded the Track World Cup Series in Cali, Colombia this weekend. The young squad faced strong competition with over thirty teams competing across the competition.
In the women’s team pursuit, Emily Kay, Manon Lloyd, Emily Nelson and Amy Roberts recorded a time of 4:42.472 which placed them tenth overall after all 17 teams had finished. The top eight teams progressed to the next round, with Team USN missing out on a qualification spot.
Team USN athlete, Lewis Oliva who was competing for Great Britain in Cali finished sixth in the Team Sprint with Matt Crampton and Jonny Biggin, missing out on a second ride with the top four moving on to the next round.
In the Keirin, Oliva was Great Britain’s sole representation and comfortably won the first round. Oliva finished fourth in the second round, going through to the minor final contesting for seventh place. Oliva finished 10th overall in the Keirin.
Oliva qualified in ninth place in the men’s sprint with 10.079, and faced against Australia’s Patrick Constable. Constable had qualified considerably slower than Oliva, but got the better of the 22-year-old from Monmouthshire overpowering him to the line and Oliva was out of the competition.
In the women’s omnium, Team USN’s Emily Kay got off to a good start with a PB in the individual pursuit and finished 8th in the Scratch race. After a crash marred the elimination race, Kay slipped down the standings to finish 18th overall in the omnium.
