To celebrate the 10th anniversary of Newport’s velodrome the International Paracycling Cup will be held at the Wales National Velodrome.
The event will be held from 29 November until 1 December and is anticipated to attract some of the world’s top paracyclists.
The evening sessions (Friday 29 November 7pm – 10pm, Saturday 30 November 7pm – 10pm and Sunday 1 December 3pm – 7pm) are ticketed and tickets have to be booked in advance. Prices are £5 for adults and £2.50 for juniors.
Speaking about the event, Newport City Council cabinet member for leisure and culture, Councillor Debbie Wilcox, said: “Newport’s veldorome is approaching its tenth anniversary and in that time has seen some of GBs top cyclists train at the venue. The latest news that it will host the international paracycling cup shows the high calibre of the facilities.
“In its 10-year history the velodrome has seen thousands of people try out the track. Last year when there were open days to watch Team GB cyclists hundreds of people showed their support and I hope that the same support will be shown at the international paracycling event.”
There will also be a number of free sessions and these will be on Saturday 30 November 10am – 6.30pm and Sunday 1 December 10am – 3pm – tickets do not have to be booked in advance for these.
Existing leisure card holders can book their tickets online, new customers can book their tickets by contacting the council’s reception teams on 01633 656757 .
