Barker and James step on to podium at U23 European Track Championships

Elinor Barker and Becky James both medal in their first events at the U23 European Track Championships in Anadia, Portugal.

World Team Pursuit Champion Elinor Barker took silver in the Individual Pursuit on day two of the competition, where double Olympic champion Laura Trott claimed the European title with a time of 3:32.478. Barker had earlier posted a personal best time of 3:35.101 in the qualifying round, securing silver in the finals.

Double World Sprint Champion Becky James joined Victoria Williamson in their first event of the competition. The duo claimed bronze in the Team Sprint, beating Poland in the third-fourth ride off. Holland claimed the European title, with Russia completing the podium with silver.

Earlier in the competition, Olympic Academy rider Owain Doull rode in the Individual Pursuit, where he came 7th ahead of Great Britain team mate Jon Dibben in 8th.
