Welsh Cycling extends its condolences to the family, friends and teammates of Herbalife-Leisure Lakes rider, Junior Heffernan, who died as the result of an incident in the 41st Severn Bridge Road Race near Olveston, Gloucestershire, on Sunday.

The 23-year-old from Yelverton in Devon was involved in a collision with a car on the third lap of the 10-lap race, which was immediately abandoned.

Marcus Kingwell, Interim Chief Executive of Welsh Cycling, said: "We are deeply saddened by this tragedy and it will inevitably be felt by all those in the wider cycling community.

"Our thoughts at this time are with Junior's family, his friends and colleagues.”
