Brooks Cycles Newcastle Track League

The latest round of the Brooks Cycles sponsored Newcastle Track League, Newcastle, Staffs saw a good turnout of riders with a particular good attendance in the A Class league. In the A Class League 2007 overall winner Andrew Magnier of Planet X is making an impressive charge through the table after missing the first six leagues while at University. His haul of 10 ½ points moved him up to second in the league as he won the 8 lap scratch,  Devil, Course de Primes and the final race the 10 mile.

The B League saw a change in the overall league as Martyn Shaw of Lyme RC overtook Joe Turner to lead by 1 ½ points. On the night he won the devil and took a second place in the 8 lap scratch. These races saw Sarah Byrne ride impressively to come second in the devil and two third places in the course de primes and the 10 mile.

The Handicap league saw league leader Joffie Houlton, Newcastle RC 2001 take another fine win to take his points score to 30. This is now an unassailable lead in this competition with two more rounds to go and he is a worthy winner.

The youth league saw some close finishes with five riders scoring points. Joe Evans of Newcastle RC 2001 was the top scorer with 6 as he won two events in impressive style. Joe is showing great style and form and is one for the future as he is only 12 years old.

In the Freewheelers league there was a healthy turnout of 17 riders considering the holiday season and they produced some fantastic racing. Special note to the Leagues youngest rider in 3 years old Joshua Jackson who gained a superb second and two third places. The top point’s scorers in the three groups were as follows;
