Easter Cycling @ Maindy Centre, Cardiff
All Sessions are 10am -11.30am
BMX Session
Monday 18th April & Tuesday 26th April
This session takes place on the highly popular BMX Pump Track next to Maindy Centre where children can learn how to ride the track safely and efficiently. The children will be taught the correct techniques to negotiate the course and will also have the chance to be timed over different sections of the track to whether they are improving. You can use any type of bike for this session and we also have a range of bikes to borrow if you are unable to bring your own.
Mountain Bike Session
Tuesday 19th April & Wednesday 27th April
This session will take place in the very scenic Blackweir Park which is situated alongside the Taff Trail. The riders will meet at Maindy Centre and then will be guided to the park where the children will learn various mountain bike skills and play some fun games. This is always a popular session and if parents want to tag along they are more than welcome.
Track Session (Fixed Wheel)
Wednesday 20th April & Thursday 28th April
This session takes place on Maindy Track which is situated directly in front of Maindy Centre. The track is 460m in length and has banked corners and was built for the Empire and Commonwealth Games in 1958. The bikes that are used for this session have a fixed wheel which means that the bike does not have a freewheel so your speed is controlled with the pedals hence the bike has no brakes. Does this sound scary?...Fear not as this is one of the safest disciplines of cycling and also one of the most exciting. Maindy Centre has plenty of track bikes in a range of sizes to hire as we do not expect you to have one of these bikes in your shed.
Each Session Costs £2.90
(Includes Bike and Helmet Hire if required)
