Team CF rider Dieter Droger win the latest round of the Notts and Derby League at Alfreton Park in Derbyshire on Saturday, just edging out Buzz Cycles-Forme rival Adam Biggs in the sprint for the line.

Droger, 30 and from Barnsley in South Yorkshire, was literally just a few inches ahead of Biggs – but with him not being registered for league points, Biggs takes his third maximum points haul of the series.

Ilkeston-based Biggs was also second in round five the previous week when David Fletcher (Boardman Elite) stopped him taking the win on the day, but similarly, with Fletcher not being registered for points, 24-year-old Biggs was happy enough with his performances.

The final podium spot went to 31-year-old Gareth Hewitt, who stepped up from fifth last week to third this time. The 31-year-old RST Racing Team rider from Westhouses, near Alfreton, was just five seconds further back and managed to hold off Empella Cyclo-Cross.com rider Ben Eedy for third.

In other categories, Pedalsport’s Mike Young was top veteran. The 43-year-old from Barnsley was ninth overall and just 1-12 off the pace set by the winner. And just 19 seconds behind him, 21-year-old Nottingham rider Lawrence Frost was crowned top under-23 in tenth spot.

Draycott-based Pete Harris was top over-50 in 15th spot, while Zepnat RT rider Diane Lee, 26 and from High Peak, was fastest woman and just 14 seconds ahead of top junior Alistair Parker (Heanor Clarion).

Another Heanor Clarion rider, James Shaw won the youth race for a second consecutive time – and a fourth victory so far in the series – when he crossed the line 16 seconds ahead of Derby Mercury rival Tom Weeds, who he also beat to victory in last week’s fifth round.

Third last week, Rutland Velo rider Oliver Maxwell was pushed off the podium by Matlock CC’s Arthur Green, while best under-14 was again Heanor Clarion’s William Gascoyne.
