Volunteers Needed National Cycling Road Race Championships and Pendle Cycle Fest
Would you like to be a part of the exciting National Cycling Road Race Championships due to take place on Sunday 27th June in Pendle? The races are on a very challenging, fully closed-roads circuit in a beautiful part of the Pendle countryside through Roughlee, Barley, Black Moss Road, Wheathead Lane and Blacko Bar Road.
British Cycling president Brian Cookson and Chris Boardman test the circuit out earlier this year.
This is the first time a championship will have been held over such a fully closed circuit. In both the men’s and the women’s events, competitors will include Olympic and World champions and medallists, together with the best of the rest of Great Britain’s elite. With the season reaching its height and just one week to go before the Tour de France starts for the men, we expect large crowds coming to watch and enjoy the various other activities taking place.
In addition to the races, there will be an extensive event village including a cycle show, big screen, stage and entertainment. For the many corporate sponsors and other VIP’s there will be a high quality VIP Hospitality Zone.
Volunteers are needed to work on the following roles:
- General Stewarding at specific locations around the Event Village and course
- Assisting the branding team in installation of all the event branding (course and event site)
- Assisting the Stage Manager in various tasks, especially with the prize presentations, and commentator liaison
- Assisting in the welfare management and distribution of welfare packs
- Assisting the media manager.
Most of these roles will commence at 7am and continue until 7pm and so it will be a long day. There will be welfare breaks. Ideally we will have sufficient volunteers so that we can split this into 2 shifts. A volunteer briefing pack will be issued 3 weeks ahead of the event and we will be holding a site briefing immediately prior to deployment.
If you would like to volunteer as a group, please nominate a volunteer supervisor to attend the briefings on behalf of the group. Can you help? Please contact Denise Rowlands at Pennine Events on 01772 447979 or e-mail at: denise@pennineevents.co.uk
