Story posted May 5; Team Press Release

Having been the dominant force in UK racing over recent weeks, the Rapha Condor Sharp team have announced their squads for the coming weekends racing as well as their next international race, the Tour of Japan, homeland of team sponsor Sharp. After his second place at the East Midlands Cicle Classic and his dominant display at last weekends Chas Messenger Road Race, Dan Craven is the notable name missing from the Lincoln squad, something team manager John Herety is relaxed about as the team enters one of the heaviest blocks of racing for the 2010 season.

Dan Craven has been having a great season so far for Rapha Condor Sharp and this weekend defends his title in Ireland's Shay Elliott

We set the outline programmes for each of the riders way back at the training camps in Feb this year and at the time, this wasn’t a race we felt was going to be right for Dan. Sure, his form is great right now, but so is that of the other riders in the team and they’ve all prepared specifically for this race. So we’ve got no need to shuffle the pack, I’m happy with the cards I’m holding

Going on to look at some of the riders selected for Lincoln, John outlined the strength in depth in the squad that will tackle the cobbles on Sunday “Chris, Dean and Kristian have all won this race before and I don’t think there will be any other squads starting with three former winners on Sunday. The squad I’ve selected gives us plenty of options. There’s no obvious leader, not because we lack a winner, quite the opposite in fact!

Winner of the last Premier Calendar, the Tour of DoonHame, Chris Newton is in great form as he showed last weekend with another victory for his team. Chris is one of many possible winners in the Rapha team which includes the National Champion Kristian House.

As such the squad for Lincoln the weekend is:

Chris Newton
Kristian House
Tom Southam
Graham Briggs
Darren Lathorme
Zak Dempster
Jonathan Tiernan Locke
Dean Downing

The remainder of the team will travel to Ireland to compete in the Shay Elliott memorial race, a race that Dan Craven won in 2009 followed by team mate Matt Cronshaw, both riders return to the race this year:

Dean Windsor
Ben Greenwood
Matt Cronshaw
Dan Craven

Immediately after the completion of the Lincoln Grand Prix the team will travel to London from where they will fly to Japan. The squad for the Tour of Japan is:

Kristian House
Tom Southam
Darren Lapthorne
Dean Windsor
Dean Downing
Zak Dempster

A full preview of the Tour of Japan will follow.
