Everybody at British Cycling was deeply saddened to hear of the passing on Monday of British Cycling official and lifelong volunteer Tom Greep.

Tom played a number of key roles firstly in the Merseyside Division and then for the North West region, of which he was the first Chair, a post he held for 18 years. He also served as a National Councillor for many years, where he could always be called upon for his thoughtful and committed contributions.

Tom started his cycling career in 1958 with St Christopher Cycling Club, and went on to volunteer in the local cycling community as a road and track commissaire, race judge and race organiser. In his lifetime, he received many awards for his dedication and service to the sport, including the British Cycling Gold Badge of Honour in 2016.

He will be greatly missed by the entire cycling community, and we send our heartfelt condolences to his family and all who knew him.

Tom's funeral will be on Friday 3 February at 12 noon at Our Lady of Mount Carmel RC Church L8 8DX, followed by cremation at 1.30pm at Springwood Crematorium Springwood Avenue Allerton Liverpool L25 7UN.
