Report: Prestatyn Promenade Charity Bike Races

Sunday 26th September 2010, Prestatyn | Report: John Harland, Rhyl CC | Results

20 year old Matt Foston (Langdale Lightweights) produced a well-timed sprint at the end of the 50 minute senior race in Sunday's Prestatyn Promenade Charity Bike Races in aid of RoadPeace at Beach Road East to take a two length victory from Pwllheli rider John Holt (Llyn CC/Sycol), Rhuddlan's Matt Limacher (Maxgear RT), Dan Evans and Gareth Bowyer (both Rhos-On-Sea CC) at the head of an 8 man leading group. The Nottinghamshire rider stirred an exciting race up in the early stages as the field strung out at high speed, and then blasted past a tiring Holt in the last 20 metres to take the win. Welsh 2010 road race silver medallist Gareth McGuiness (Energy CC) was prominent also with some attacking riding throughout the race, but was beaten for pace at the end.

Mayor Of Prestatyn Cllr Michael Eckersley started the meeting off with the Welsh flag, and in the first race it was St.Asaph's Sol Kerfoot-Robson (Rhos-On-Sea CC) who sprinted in ahead of Kieran Morris (Mid Shropshire Wheelers) of Chirk to win the highly competitive under 10's event. Gwyn Lovibond (Rhyl CC) was just beaten by Sean McGovern (East Lancs CC) in the U14's and Ryan Mullen (Planet X) gave his usual devastating lone display in the U16's, lapping second placed Adam Holt (Llyn CC), no slouch at this sort of racing, in the finishing straight.
