At 9.00am on Sunday 16 June, we hope that you will be joining our riders to cross the timing mats at the start of “Ride_101” the newest “Sportive” ride for Essex, from Walden Velo.

In conjunction the “Injured Soldiers Fund” at 101 Engineers Carver Barracks, Wimbish, we have set out one the finest and hopefully most enjoyable century plus rides that you can find across the region.

Four Counties, three feed stations*, two wheels and one rider - you!

Covering four Counties and over 4400ft of climbing, this Sportive has been specifically designed for you, "the rider".

We'll direct you through some of the prettiest villages in Essex and Suffolk, through picturesque countryside, back towards Saffron Walden and then onto the rolling roads and vistas of the both Cambridgeshire and Hertfordshire with,  a welcome return to Essex and a final cheeky little set of "combinations" to finish.

One thing is guaranteed and that is you will not stop pedalling all day!

We’ve tried to pick all of the best things that you need from a Sportive.

Our feed stations will be packed with choices of gels, bars, bananas, energy drink (courtesy of our partners) and when you return back to base, we reckon that you will have earned that final “feed” which includes several choices of hot food and flapjacks provided by our hosts as well as a free post recovery ride drink! 

Our unique facility includes "offroad" safe parking, changing and showering facilities to. Chip Timing is provided that will text you result in “real-time” to your mobile phone and in conjunction with manufuacturer - Aprire Bicycles we’ll have mechanics ready for that last minute adjustment or, if you wish, you can even try out their bikes on the ride!

Not only this, but you'll be supporting our chosen Charity too! The "Injured Soldiers Fund" of the 101 & 33 Engineers and all the soldiers at Carver Barracks.

We have also forged some great partnerships to, which means that along with the support of several local businesses such as Newdales Cycles, Tesco, Waitrose, Hi 5, OE Magazine and all of those wonderful people behind the scene – we think that we can offer you something different? 

So come on, challenge yourself and enter so that you when you cross that finish line you can say to yourself, your friends, your family ..

"I did it, I rode the 101" 

All food and drink at the feed stations is included in the entry fee - returning riders will also be given a voucher to redeem at the final feed station back at the start.

All entrants will be entitled a free recovery drink as well, additional food and drinks can be purchased at the HQ Start & Finish - if required.
