Any plans for next weekend? What about heading to Yorkshire for a ride? The Selby Three Swans Sportive is a non-competitive cycle ride organised by Selby Cycling Club and approved by Cycle Yorkshire, the official legacy organisation for the 2014 Tour de France.

The 2014 edition takes place on Sunday 31 August with a staggered start in front of Selby Abbey following carefully planned routes of 30 miles for novices, 60 miles for the more ambitious and an epic 100 mile event for elite riders.

If you are tired of lung-busting hills then the Selby Three Swans is the perfect alternative with the 100 mile course only having 1,600 ft of climbing, making it the perfect route for a first century ride or an ideal opportunity to improve your personal best time.

Fuelled by a well-stocked refreshment station and backed up by support vehicles, riders can enjoy the ride with friends old and new then pick up their goody bag and commemorative T-shirt.

As an added bonus, cyclists, their families and supporters can enjoy the Selby Festival also held on Sunday 31 August with a host of activities planned to attract and entertain visitors to Selby:

  • Come and play on our climbing wall and bouncy castle
  • Take part in short cycle races on our obstacle course
  • Try your hand at WLCT pop-up sports
  • Take the chance to rest and refuel in one Selby’s cafes or pubs
