Wales Junior Programme riders will be competing in ‘The Next Generation’ competition at the Omnisport Arena in Apeldoorn, The Netherlands 7-8 January 2017.

Ten riders are travelling to the international track cycling event with Welsh Cycling. The two day competition offers a full track racing programme, with a strong field of competition from across Europe including national teams from Germany, Denmark and France.

In addition, three Welsh riders will represent the Great Britain Cycling Team. Rhys Britton, Jess Roberts and Emily Tillett will compete in the endurance events in Apeldoorn.

Welsh Cycling’s Assistant Coach Stuart Meek said: “’The Next Generation’ international contest is an opportunity for our junior riders to compete in Europe and further develop as bike riders.

For some riders, this is their first event at junior level and provides a great opportunity for them to learn and grow. The exposure to international competition will be beneficial to all team members, but the experiences both on and off the bike will also prepare them for their future cycling careers.

We are looking forward to competing at The Next Generation contest, and making the most of this invaluable learning opportunity.”
