Lewis Oliva and Ciara Horne both claimed national titles on the track in Manchester, which also saw former double world champion Becky James return to the podium in the sprint events.
The British Cycling National Track Championships took place 25 – 27 September at the National Cycling Centre, Manchester with success for Welsh athletes across sprint and endurance events.
On-form Lewis Oliva, Team USN, claimed the National Sprint title as well as a silver medal in the Men’s Keirin. Blackline rider Tom Scammell contested the sprint events, and came away with a silver in the team sprint. Abergavenny’s Becky James made her return to the National Championship event racing for the North West Region, since recovering from injury, and took silver in the sprint and keirin.
Ciara Horne became National Team Pursuit Champion with Pearl Izumi Sports Tours International, and continued her strong performance with a bronze medal in the individual pursuit. The women’s scratch race had a strong field of riders, with Team USN’s Manon Lloyd securing bronze. Fellow Team USN rider Emily Kay also took bronze in the women’s points race on Sunday.
